THE MARNE a chestnut colt, with a small star and roan markings on his off hind leg. Foaled in 1918 and bred by Mr G. Norris Midwood, of The Grange, North Rode, Congleton, Cheshire. He was owned by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Archibald Weigall, K.C.M.G., of Petwood, Woodall Spa, Lincs., and later by Mr W. Crump, of Waverley House, North Street, Okehampton. In the 1920 London Show of the National Pony Society, The Marne was exhibited by his breeder as part of a winning Group for the stallion, “Little Corona.”

He was registered as stallion 1075, in Volume 18 of The National Pony Society (1922-1924), and when measured on 22nd July, 1922, was 15.0 hands high.
