GRASSHOPPER II a bay mare with a five pointed star, grizzled border, and curved narrow line for race, near fore half fetlock, near hind fetlock and off fore coronet ring, she was foaled in 1908 and purchased by Miss Imogen Mary Collier, in 1913 from Mr. Dudley Yelverton.
Before the First World War, whole groups of ponies from the same stables, went together to local shows, Grasshopper II was no exception and as an “all round” pony, competed in Hack, Jumping and Musical Chair competitions with considerable success as can be seen from the following list ;-

In 1914 Grasshopper II was entered for Polo Classes, (it is likely that she was trained by Miss Collier for polo in 1913, her Hurlingham certificate was number 11596):-

– Yelverton – Polo Classes (Premium) Musical Chairs (3rd prize)
– Paignton – Hack Classes (3rd prize)
– Launceston – Polo Classes (Reserve) Musical Chairs (1st prize)
– Brentor and Lydford Show, August 3rd – Polo Ponies (3rd prize) Musical Chairs (2nd prize)
– Cornwood Show, July 29th 1914 – Polo Classes (2nd prize)
– Grasshopper II was entered in Volume 14 of the National Pony Society, (1915-1916) she was fourteen and a half hands high and stated to be by Weymouth.
No dam is mentioned for Grasshopper II.
