BIRDCATCHER II a brown mare, foaled in 1908. She played polo at Hurlingham in spite of her height, which was fourteen hands three and three quaters inches. She was played by Captain Geoffrey Bowlby, (Life Guards, in matches at Hurlingham) and played by Lieutenant Commander H. S. Bowlby, R.N. in London since the war.

In 1916 and 17 Lieutenant Commander Bowlby bred two foals :-
1916 – a bay filly by stallion Spanish Hero
1917 – a bay colt, “Tomahawk” by Prairie Fire GSB (Vol.21 p.225)

On 28th June, 1924 Birdcatcher II was inspected by Captain J. D. Gouldsmith as the property of Mrs Joseph Oscar Muntz and measured for acceptance onto the Approved Mare Register, she appears on page 123.


No pedigree was given for Birdcatcher II. In 1924 she was covered by, “Foxhams stallion Love Song” and produced in 1925, a brown colt named Lonley Bird.
