Behind the Scenes

This website follows the fortune of the, “Foxhams Stud”, (belonging Mrs J. Oscar Muntz, formerly Miss Imogen Collier) , well known before and between the two “World Wars” for breeding Polo and Riding Ponies, and afterwards for “Children’s Ponies.” The hope is to follow the fortunes of as many ponies as possible, through the various Stud Books and other publicly available literature. The aim is to go further by seeking information, held by other people and only available in, “old family photograph albums, scraps of newspaper cuttings,” (usually without a date of any kind), and private collections to expand the stories, and achievements, of these ponies.

Should the pedigree of an identified pony be of interest, signing in would provide access to the detailed pedigrees. These pedigrees appear in a “free hand,” form as raised by me. The idea is to try and identify the quality and, “blood lines,” of the ponies, I have been able to identify.
I concentrated my research on winners in the Derby, Two Thousand Guineas, the St. Leger and the Ascot Gold Cup. The legendary stallions Touchstone, Stockwell, Ormonde, Petrarach and Hermit (1864) appear regularly, in the blood lines.

The purpose is to follow the stories of the, horses or ponies,”the owners and breeders being essential in name only. Anyone who is interested in this approach is asked to contact us with information, naturally we will try to corroborate any information given with material we have.
Over time, we hope, “a library of ponies of all kinds,” might evolve.

On this page are a few unidentified photographs, perhaps the young lady is a member of your family?
