It is believed from photographs of Gold Piece that he was a trained polo pony. He was foaled in 1930 and would have been at Foxhams until about 1934 when he was probably put up for sale. It is worth noting that his dam Ninie Piece, (formerly Tussel), was a well known Racing Pony.
