ARTHUR’S BELLE GSB (Vol.22 p.789) was a chestnut filly, with an irregular white face and a grey patch on her near flank. She was bred by Sir John Barker, who died on 16th December 1914. The sale of stock, by his Executors, took place on 16th April 1915, at The Grange, Bishop’s Stortford Hertfordshire, and was conducted by Tattersalls.

Arthur’s Belle’s story, is that of a thoroughbred mare born just before the first world war. She was foaled on May 3rd 1913 and became the property of Mr. N.H. Wills, of the Misarden Polo Pony Stud, Cirencester (see London Show 1922).

1916 – at three years old she was covered by Cherry Tint GSB, (Vol.21 p.493) and in 1917, a chestnut colt was born.
1918 – another chestnut colt, (Water Measure, by Cherry Tint)
1919 – she was barren, (to Cherry Tint)
1920 – a chestnut filly, (Wine Measure by Cherry Tint) was foaled.

1921 – she was barren and covered again by Cherry Tint. On Monday, 8th August the Misarden Polo Pony Stud, “Sales of Blood Stock,” took place, sold by Tattersalls. “Brood Mares and foals . . . . Arthur’s Belle (1913) by Arthur D covered by Cherry Tint,” sold to Captain Rees-Mogg, for 18 Guineas. Mrs Joseph Oscar Muntz was at the sale, and sometime between August 8th 1921 and Spring 1922, Arthur’s Belle arrived at Foxhams having been sold on, by Captain Rees-Mogg.

1922 – chestnut fily, Belle Cerise, (by Cherry Tint) was bred at Foxhams.
1923 – she was barren
1924 – a filly (dead) by Love Song was born.
1925 – a chestnut filly, Asteroidel by stallion Aldebaran was foaled, she was covered by Love Song and sold to Commander K. M. Wilkinson.
1926 – a chestnut filly, (Arthur’s Love by stallion Love Song) was born
1927 – she was barren to Sentry, and was covered by stallion The Marne.
1928 – a bright chestnut filly, (The Marne’s Belle, later Mabella) was born, and she was again covered by The Marne.
1929 – there was a foal, who did not live
1930 – she was barren
1931 – she was sent to the kennels.
